Emirates Global Aluminium Launches First Renewable Energy-Powered Data Centres in Middle East

EGA has launched the Middle East’s first industrial renewable energy-powered data centres, setting new standards for sustainability and technology.

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), has embarked on an ambitious journey to establish the Middle East’s first industrial data centres powered entirely by renewable energy.

Abdulnasser bin Kalban, chief executive of EGA, said, “EGA’s bold aspiration to innovate the future of aluminium production is a source of our global competitive advantage and this includes leading our sector in the implementation of Industry 4.0. The construction of EGA’s new on-site data centres is an important milestone in our goal to establish a thriving manufacturing innovation ecosystem in the UAE.”

EGA’s foray into renewable energy-powered data centres is poised to significantly boost its AI and automation capabilities. As part of its broader digital transformation strategy, EGA’s initiation of these renewable energy-powered data centres is a clear indicator of the company’s forward-thinking ethos.

This initiative is not only a testament to EGA’s commitment to sustainability but also marks a significant leap towards its digital transformation objectives. In partnership with local technology firm Scientechnic, these facilities will be located at EGA’s strategic sites in Jebel Ali, Dubai, and Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi.
