Noida Authority to Sublease 10-acre Plot to AdaniConneX

AdaniConneX is also building another facility in sector 62 of Noida with land also let by the Authority of Noida.

The Authority of Noida in India has agreed to sublease a 10-acre plot to AdaniConnex subsidiary Noida Data Centre Limited. AdaniConnex is a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX.

First reported by the Hindustan Times, the authority had previously rejected the Adani Group’s request to sublease a plot.

However, Manoj Kumar, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and Chairman of the Noida Authority, overturned the decision and approved the plan for the establishment of a data centre development in sector 80 of Noida.

The plan was approved on the grounds of provisions detailed in the Uttar Pradesh Data Center Policy in 2021.

“The Noida authority board discussed the agenda related to this project and approved the request after deliberations in July 2024. A data centre project is supposed to be established in sector 80 as the authority had already allotted the land for the same,” said Lokesh M, CEO of Noida Authority.

AdaniConneX is also building another facility in sector 62 of Noida – where the construction site recently had a small fire – with land also let by the Authority of Noida. The city of Noida is divided into 163 sectors, with sectors 62 and 80 both being listed as industrial sectors.

The joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX was first announced in February 2021. The two companies expressed a goal of delivering 1GW of hyperscale data centre capacity throughout India.

Since then, the JV has launched a data centre in Chennai with the first phase offering 17MW. At full build-out, the campus will reach 33MW. The company is also working on facilities in Hyderabad, Vizag, Pune, and Mumbai.

In April 2024, the company acquired a 25-acre plot of land for $56.5m to build a data centre in Pune, India.

Noida is also home to operators such as NTT, CtrlS, Nxtra, and STT.
