CETY, Freyr to Deliver AI, Data Centre Services in SEA

Freyr will spearhead client acquisition and manage data centre operations, while CETY will provide the necessary Nvidia infrastructure.

Clean Energy Technologies (CETY) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Freyr to support the delivery of AI and data centre services to Southeast Asia.

Freyr will spearhead client acquisition and manage data centre operations, while CETY will provide the necessary Nvidia infrastructure for data centre services.

CETY intends to leverage the collaboration to cross-sell its clean energy solutions to AI data centres across Southeast Asia.

Freyr is Nvidia’s preferred partner. It focuses on developing technical solutions to optimise the model flop utilisation of Nvidia’s GPU.

CETY has signed several deals in the data centre and tech sectors in 2024. Earlier this month, it announced plans to expand its microgrid solution into the cryptocurrency mining and artificial intelligence data centre sectors.

The announcement follows the signing of an MoU with Bitcoin mining firm True North. Under the terms of the MoU, CETY microgrid solutions will be delivered to True North’s data centres and cryptocurrency mining operations.

The Southeast Asian data centre market is projected to grow significantly over the rest of the decade. According to 451 Research, data centre capacity in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India is forecasted to increase at a 10-28% CAGR over the next five years.

Several prominent announcements have been made in the region in 2024. In March, BW Digital acquired more than 55,000 sqm (592,015 sq ft) of land at Nongsa Digital Park in Batam, Indonesia, to build an 80MW data centre.

Before this, Digital Edge launched a 23MW data centre in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, its second in the city.
