Hexanet will soon launch its data centre expansion in Reims, France.
Announced in a recent LinkedIn post, the company said, ” We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Reims data centre, a step that marks our ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge IT services to our customers.”
Set to open on 19 September 19 2024, the new data hall is located inside Hexanet’s existing data centre.
The €1.6 million ($1.7m) project has added 140 sqm (1,500 sq ft) of IT space, capable of hosting an additional 120 racks.
Founded in 1997, Hexanet is a telecommunications firm offering colocation services from its data centres in Reims and Le Mans . It is a subsidiary of the agriculture technology supplier Isagri Group.
Construction for the expansion began around six months ago, with the original facility being inaugurated almost a decade ago.
The company acquired French firm Soluceo in 2021 to expand its cloud service offerings.
Reims, the unofficial capital of the Champagne region, is home to one other data centre operated by Ikoula. French colocation firm Castle IT was reported to be building a data center in Reims in 2022. There have been no updates on the facility since.
