Microsoft wants to sign on Amazon as a customer in a $1B cloud tools deal. The ecommerce giant has committed to a five-year contract for over one million Microsoft 365 license seats. 

Microsoft is preparing to bring Amazon.com as a customer for its 365 cloud productivity tools in a deal worth over $1 billion.

According to the report, the ecommerce giant has committed the amount for over five years to secure more than one million Microsoft 365 license seats.

Microsoft, whose shares gained nearly 1% in extended trading following the report, declined to comment. 

The report said that Amazon is expected to start setting up the new systems in early November, adding that the company currently uses a local, on-premise version of Microsoft’s Office products.
