Global Chip Major Qualcomm announced seven new IoT chipsets for transportation and logistics, warehousing, video collaboration, smart cameras, retail, healthcare and more.

According to the company, the seven new IoT solutions “provide a wide range of features in a variety of smart device and connectivity solutions with long-life hardware and software options for long-term support for at least eight years.”

The new chipsets are Qualcomm QCS8250, Qualcomm QCS6490 / QCM6490, Qualcomm QCS4290 / QCM4290, and Qualcomm QCS2290 / QCM2290.

Qualcomm recently launched its first IoT Modem solution with 5G connectivity Optimised for industrial IoT (IIoT) applications.

There are two variations of these chipsets

Chipsets are premium tier entry-level and are designed to support new IoT devices and solutions designed for industrial and commercial applications.

There are two variations. One falls into the QCS family of application processors with WiFi connectivity. The other is located under the QCM, an application processor with integrated cellular connectivity.

Qualcomm QCS8250

Target applications: Connected Healthcare, Digital Signage, Retail, Video Collaboration.

With the Kryo 585 CPU architecture, this solution is designed for industrial and commercial IoT applications such as transportation, warehousing, connected healthcare, logistics management, and point-of-sale (POS) kiosks.

Equipped to support 5G millimetre-wave / sub 6GHz and Wi-Fi 6E, this solution helps enable the latest generation of handheld and tablets, industrial scanners, and human-machine interface systems.

Qualcomm QCS4290 / QCM4290

Target applications: cameras, industrial handhelds, security panels

These chipsets offer the greatest intermediate layer benefits. Availability of new chipsets

Qualcomm QCS8250, Qualcomm QCS4290 / QCM4290, and Qualcomm QCS2290 / QCM2290 solutions are now available. The Qualcomm QCS6490 / QCM6490 solution will be available in the second half of 2021.
