The Bahrain Technology Companies Society’s (BTECH) plans and initiatives to develop the technology sector in Bahrain by supporting ICT companies and helping to increase the sector’s contribution to GDP were discussed at a meeting.
The meeting was between Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, the Chairman the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and the Chairman of BTECH Tariq Qassim Fakhroo.
Shaikh Mohammed stated that Tamkeen has always strived to support the national economy and all its sectors, including key sectors which are aligned with national priorities. This includes the ICT sector as it contributes to driving economic development.
He added that Tamkeen commends the initiatives of BTECH which have included events, programmes and seminars that have been held locally and internationally.
Modern technologies
Maha Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen reiterated that Tamkeen’s strategy includes supporting the adoption of modern technologies and their application to projects and businesses. This will accelerate the growth of Bahraini enterprises and enhance their competitiveness, as well as their ability to create high-quality jobs.
Fakhroo, emphasised the Society’s continued willingness to develop deeper commercial relationships, praising Tamkeen’s role in supporting the ICT sector. He noted that the board is keen to enhance the Society’s role in assisting Bahraini start-ups and Bahraini tech SMEs.
Fakhroo concluded by affirming that BTECH’s vision is to take the ICT sector to new heights and this collaboration with Tamkeen can be seen as an important national partnership that will enhance the Society’s initiatives, increase productivity, and support technological innovation. This will be implemented by developing strategies and plans that will drive economic development in Bahrain.
