What’s Happening At Oracle CloudWorld This Year?

Oracle CloudWorld is well underway in Las Vegas this week. The event saw keynotes from CEO Safra Catz, co-founder and CTO Larry Ellison, and success stories from NVIDIA, Oracle Red Bull Racing, Deutsche Bank and more.

Oracle also made several major announcements and launches at CloudWorld. Here are six new solutions, innovations and capabilities that the company unveiled this week:

Bringing the power of the cloud to the masses

At CloudWorld, Oracle announced Alloy – a new cloud infrastructure platform aimed at enabling service providers, integrators, independent software vendors (ISVs), and other organisations such as financial institutions or telecommunications providers.

Alloy is designed to give organisations the power to become cloud service providers themselves. The platform allows them to offer a full set of cloud services built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and tailor the experience for their customers.

They can also use Alloy independently in their own data centres and fully control its operations to help address their specific regulatory requirements. Alloy will enable them to become cloud providers and innovate faster with more customisation and control.

MySQL HeatWave Lakehouse

Oracle has expanded its MySQL HeatWave portfolio to include a Lakehouse solution.

MySQL HeatWave is a cloud service that combines transaction processing, analytics, machine learning, and machine learning-based automation within a single MySQL database.

According to Oracle, MySQL HeatWave Lakehouse delivers significantly better performance than competitive cloud database services for running queries and loading data, as demonstrated by industry-standard benchmarks.

The new solution enables customers to process and query hundreds of terabytes of data in an object store in a variety of file formats, such as CSV and Parquet, as well as Aurora and Redshift backups. The cloud giant said that it is designed to quickly load and query up to 400TB of data, while the HeatWave cluster can scale up to 512 nodes.

Enhanced analytics solutions

Oracle introduced new capabilities in Oracle Fusion Analytics across CX, ERP, HCM, and SCM, providing decision-makers with a prebuilt library of more than 2,000 best-practice KPIs, dashboards and reports.

Designed to improve enterprise productivity, the latest innovations in Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) are designed to minimise users’ reliance on IT teams while still ensuring they benefit from curated data assets created by IT, such as the centralised semantic model.

OAC also now has advanced composite visualisations, making it easier to interpret data. Built using augmented intelligence and machine learning, the solution develops and delivers data visualisations and analyses.

Code name: App Simple

Oracle announced Database 23c Beta, the latest iteration of its converged database.

According to the company, Database 23c Beta supports all data types, workloads, and development styles. Code named ‘App Simple’ focuses on simplifying applications and development. It delivers advanced new capabilities that enable breakthrough developer productivity for applications that are written using JSON, Graph, or microservices while also enhancing SQL to make it even easier to use and adding JavaScript as a stored procedure language, said Oracle.

Oracle healthcare-focused features

In June, Oracle completed its $28.3 billion acquisition of healthcare digital information system provider Cerner.

In line with this, at CloudWorld, Oracle introduced an array of healthcare-focused updates to its Cloud Fusion suite. The additions include Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM), which is aimed at helping healthcare organisations improve patient care. The company also released specialised HR solutions in Oracle Cloud HCM to enable healthcare firms to develop better, support, and empower staff, improving patient experiences.

To help healthcare providers improve financial performance and patient care, Oracle also rolled out the Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) for the industry. The new solution enables healthcare organisations to enhance insight and optimise financial planning and forecasting.

AI additions to Oracle Unity

Oracle has added 15 baselines artificial intelligence (AI) models to Oracle Unity, a Customer Data Platform (CDP).

Part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Customer Experience (CX), Oracle Unity combines built-in artificial intelligence with customisable industry-specific data models to deliver highly personalised industry-specific experiences.

The latest AI models added to Oracle Unity support organisations in automotive, consumer packaged goods, communications, financial services, healthcare, high-tech, and utility industries. The AI features help customers process data, providing them insights that predict behaviours or provide next-step recommendations.
