Sydney-based Greenbox Architecture specialises in data centre, commercial, and residential architecture in the APAC region.
Engineering and architecture consulting firm Woolpert has acquired Greenbox Architecture.
Sydney-based Greenbox Architecture has specialised in data centre, commercial, and residential architecture in the APAC region since 2009. Woolpert said the move expands the global reach and capabilities of both firms. Details of the transaction have not been shared.
“By joining a tech-driven company like Woolpert, we will be able to accelerate the growth in AI, optimization, 3D modelling, and other related technologies,” said Andrew Owens, CEO at Greenbox. “But also, we want to continue to have fun. We want our people to do work they love in an environment where they can thrive. We found that in Woolpert.”
Neil Churman, President at Woolpert, added, “Andrew and the Greenbox team have established themselves as the clear Asia-Pacific market leader in the data centre design and solidify our ability to deliver design and geospatial solutions of a truly global scale to the mission-critical industry.”
“Data centres have become essential infrastructure supporting nearly all aspects of our daily lives, and we’re focused on better supporting our clients as they continue to expand globally.”
Founded in 1911, Woolpert has more than 2,500 employees across 60 offices worldwide. The company first entered the data centre design industry when it acquired Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects in 2022.
Greenbox has been the primary architect for multiple data centre projects, including AirTrunk’s SYD2 Sydney North data centre in New South Wales, Digital Realty’s SYD11, Equinix’s SY4, and NEXT DC’s S3 facility.
