His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, unveiled plans for three innovative ventures aimed at cementing the UAE’s leadership in global research and development.
The Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) board meeting, chaired by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, highlighted the council’s ambitious initiatives and achievements.
The council is set to launch three new ventures as part of its ongoing efforts to bolster Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s positions in the global R&D landscape.
The council reviewed its progress in creating an innovative R&D ecosystem. VentureOne, ATRC’s commercialisation arm, is set to launch three ventures focusing on data security in the quantum era, smart autonomous mobility, and Agritech with robotic technologies, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s economic priorities. These ventures, expected to launch later this year, represent significant strides in transforming pioneering research into market-ready solutions.
The meeting also showcased the success of the UAE Research Map, which has attracted over 2,000 visits and features 30 entities and over 450 experts. Its role in centralising national research resources and fostering collaboration has spurred interest from additional entities.
ATRC’s Global Tech R&D Fund, with a $200 million budget, has attracted international proposals, accelerating the integration of the UAE’s Falcon large language model into technological infrastructure and government services globally.
Sheikh Khaled emphasised the importance of ATRC’s plans and initiatives to advance innovative technologies and AI solutions, both locally and globally.
Key to these efforts is the UAE Research Map, which fosters nationwide research collaboration and supports UAE National talent in technological innovation, particularly in developing large language models. The initiative aims to improve quality of life and industry efficiencies, supporting sustainable development.
Sheikh Khaled reinforced the UAE’s role as an innovation hub, advocating for applying tech-based solutions across vital sectors to drive socio-economic development.
He also stressed the necessity of preparing UAE National talent in STEM fields, which is crucial for enhancing the UAE’s research landscape and developing advanced innovations. This focus aligns with the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy and the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, aiming to cultivate a dynamic STEM talent pool.
