EE became the third carrier in the country to launch 5G SA following Vodafone and Virgin Media O2.
EE has outlined plans to expand its 5G Standalone (5G SA) network across the UK.
The telco, which first launched its 5G SA network last month, will add 16 new locations by the end of the year. 5G Standalone operates solely on a 5G Core network and is not reliant on older mobile technologies.
EE said it will deploy the service in 16 more locations including; Ashton-under-Lyne, Barrow-in-Furness, Barry, Birkenhead, Bury, Coventry, Dudley, Dundee, Newport, Nottingham, St Helens, Stockport, Swansea, Weston Super Mare, Wigan, and Wolverhampton.
The telco claims that all the places where it has launched 5G SA will have at least 95% outdoor coverage. The carrier pushed the service live in 15 cities last month, including London, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, and Manchester.
EE became the third carrier in the country to launch 5G SA following Vodafone and Virgin Media O2. However, unlike Vodafone and Virgin Media O2, EE is charging a premium for its 5G SA service.
