Lableb offers Arabic AI services and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Majarra, a digital content provider, has acquired the Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Arabic AI startup, Lableb, for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition marks Majarra’s entry into the rapidly expanding AI sector in the MENA region.
Founded in 2004 by Abdulsalam Haykal, Majarra is a UAE-based mediatech company that provides Arabic content through the Majarra App, which contains a vast library of over 50,000 articles, videos and audio content.
Lableb, founded in 2017 by Kinda Altarbouch, offers Arabic AI services and Natural Language Processing (NLP). Lableb’s AI and NLP technologies have been relied upon by various online stores, government platforms, media outlets, and software providers, where nuanced and accurate Arabic language processing is essential for successful business.
“Majarra and Lableb share a common foundation and vision,” Majarra’s Executive Chairman Abdulsalam Haykal and CEO Ammar Haykal say. “Kinda’s leadership and the team’s unwavering commitment to the transformative power of Arabic AI/NLP for regional businesses have consistently delivered exceptional product quality, and we see immense potential in bringing real-life applications to Large Language Models (LLMs).”
Although the two companies have already shared founders and shareholders, this transaction makes Majarra the majority owner of Lableb, thus enabling a more complete integration of the two entities. Under Majarra’s ownership, Lableb will maintain its operational independence, focusing on addressing the unique challenges of morphology, diverse dialects, complex syntactic structure, and context-dependent meanings that machines face with Arabic language processing.
